If you've just bought a rug, you've probably asked yourself this question when unpacking it. When we ship a rug, to ensure it doesn't get damaged during transit, it's sent completely rolled on itself. This means that when you unroll the rug, it might have some waves or even its edges might be slightly curled upwards.
But don't worry, it's normal; it just needs time to return to its original flat shape. Here are some tips that will help you flatten your rug. Take note!
- Remove your rug's packaging. If you use scissors, be careful not to cut the rug's backing.
- Unroll your rug and spread it out as much as possible on a flat surface.
- You'll notice that the edges remain somewhat bent. Don't worry! Simply take the parallel corners and fold them in the opposite direction. Do this movement at least 3 times.
- Leave the rug completely flat and place a light object on the corners, such as a soda can or a small water bottle.
Keep in mind that it's advisable to let a few days pass so the rug can adapt to the new flat surface.
Another very effective solution is to add double-sided tape to the back of the rug's corners; this way, the rug will adhere to the floor and its corners won't lift.
We hope these tips have been useful and help you keep your rug impeccable! See you in the next blog 😊
